FAQs
How did you start your craft?
My entire life I have delved into a plethora of creative outlets, eager to experience the joy and satisfaction that comes with each one. It all started when I was just twelve years old, stumbling upon the captivating world of macrame. I was immediately entranced by the intricate knotting techniques and the endless possibilities they held. Little did I know that this would become one the foundations of my artistic journey.
As I continued to explore my creative spirit, I discovered the art of dyeing at the age of fourteen. The vibrant hues and the transformative power that dyeing possessed mesmerized me. I couldn't help but dive headfirst into this new passion, experimenting with different color combinations and techniques. It was as if a whole new world had unfolded before my eyes, and I was determined to explore every corner of it.
However, it was during my high school ceramics class that I stumbled upon a true love that would ignite a fire within me. We were learning about the ancient art of traditional Navajo basket weaving.
It wasn't just the art itself that drew me in, but the therapeutic nature of it all. Throughout my life, I have faced many challenges and hardships, from childhood trauma to overcoming domestic violence. Yet, through it all, the arts have always been there to guide me, to heal me. Weaving has become a profound form of therapy, allowing me to process my emotions, find solace in the rhythmic movement of the threads, and ultimately rise above the darkness.
With every knot, every dye, every weave, I am reminded of the strength and resilience I possess. The creative process has the power to ground me and inspire me, even in the face of adversity. It has shown me that through art, I can build a beautiful life, despite the hardships that may come my way.
So, as I continue on my journey of self-discovery and artistic exploration, I hold onto the lessons I have learned through weaving. I embrace the ups and downs, the triumphs and challenges, knowing that they are all part of the tapestry of my life. And I am grateful for every creative outlet that has paved the way, allowing me to express myself and build a life that is both beautiful and meaningful, one stitch at a time.
What is your inspiration?
My children are my top priority and greatest inspiration in life. I believe in showing them the importance of pursuing their dreams and having confidence in their abilities. Through leading by example, I want to instill in them a deep-rooted belief that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
In addition, I find immense inspiration in numerology, crystal energy, and color therapy. These practices have become essential tools in my creative process, enabling me to infuse my work with positive and meaningful energy. Each intricate detail in my creations is a deliberate reflection of some of my favorite moments and influential people in my life, allowing me to materialize these aspects and share their beauty with the world.
Overall, my journey as a self-employed individual and my devotion to my children, combined with the inspirations I draw from numerology, crystal energy, and color therapy, form the core of my creative endeavors. It is through this unique blend of experiences and passions that I strive to create meaningful and impactful work that resonates with others.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
It is my ultimate and unwavering goal to establish a tangible and inviting physical space, a haven if you will, where individuals from all walks of life can congregate harmoniously, forging connections and expanding their knowledge through various classes and workshops. Moreover, this envisioned sanctuary of creativity and empathy would serve as a thriving hub that nurtures and bolsters the local community, with a special focus on offering unwavering support to those battling terminal illnesses, empowering disabled individuals, and guiding at-risk youth onto a path illuminated by the transformative power of art. By curating a non-profit service encompassing all these elements, I hope to facilitate an environment where the sheer act of crafting art transcends boundaries and becomes a source of profound healing and solace for all who seek it.
